£23.95

Full Product Details

Made in England by Coil, the Hi-Power range is a long-standing favourite in UK low vision clinics. Each lens is aspheric, meaning it is shaped to keep text sharp and undistorted right out to the edge of the lens — so you spend less time hunting for the clear spot and more time reading.

Key features

  • High-quality aspheric acrylic lens for a clear, flat field of view
  • Ergonomic handle designed for relaxed use in either the left or right hand
  • Lightweight for extended reading sessions
  • Supplied with a protective case

Choose your power

  • 2.3x (5.2D) – 97 x 72mm rectangular lens, the widest view; ideal for newspapers and letters
  • 3x (8D) – 80mm round lens; a good first magnifier for books and post
  • 4x (12D) – 80mm round lens; for medicine labels and smaller print
  • 6x (20D) – 50mm round lens; for very fine print and detail work

Optometrist's tip

Hold the magnifier flat against the page, then slowly lift it towards your eye until the print is at its sharpest — that is the lens's focal distance, and keeping it steady there gives the biggest, clearest image. If you wear reading glasses, try both with and without them; most people see best through their distance glasses (or no glasses) with a hand magnifier. Higher powers mean a smaller lens, so choose the lowest power that lets you read comfortably.
