What is BlephEx? – At-home Eyelid Treatment (Coming Soon)
What is BlephEx?
BlephEx is a gentle, professional eyelid-cleaning treatment for blepharitis and dry, irritated eyes. Soon one of our own optometrists will be able to come to your home across Kent to carry it out privately, explain what they find and recommend the right dry eye care for you afterwards.
Early bird price £99.99 per treatment – an introductory price that will rise once bookings open
Why the edge of your eyelid matters
Your eyelid margin is home to the tiny oil glands that keep your tears healthy. When debris builds up there, eyes can quickly become uncomfortable.
Debris and bacterial film
Over time, flakes, oils and a film of bacteria (biofilm) collect along the base of the lashes – often more than everyday wipes can lift.
Blocked oil glands
That build-up can clog the meibomian glands, so your tears evaporate faster and the eye surface dries out.
Sore, gritty, red eyes
The result is the familiar cycle of blepharitis and dry eye: itchy rims, crusty lashes and eyes that feel tired or sandy.
How BlephEx works
BlephEx uses a hand-held device with a soft, single-use micro-sponge. Your optometrist guides it precisely along each lid edge to exfoliate away the build-up.

Review, discussion and your dry eye plan
Your optometrist reviews your eyes after the treatment, discusses what they found and recommends the dry eye solutions that suit you. You also keep a complimentary heat mask, lid wipes and eye drops.
BlephEx may help if you have…
This is an introductory price for early registrations and it will rise once bookings open. Given the travel and one-to-one time a private home visit involves, it's exceptional value while it lasts.
Optometrist tip: BlephEx gives your lids a deep clean, but a few minutes of daily care keeps the benefits going. A warm compress for 5–10 minutes followed by a lid wipe, morning or evening, helps keep the oil glands flowing between treatments.
Common questions
Does BlephEx hurt?
Most people find it comfortable and describe a light tickling feeling. Your optometrist will explain each step before starting and can pause at any time.
How is it different from lid wipes?
Wipes are great for daily care, but they can't easily reach the base of the lashes where the hardened build-up sits. BlephEx cleans that area precisely in a way that's hard to do at home.
What's included in the home visit?
A private optometrist travels to your home, checks your eyes, carries out the BlephEx treatment, explains and discusses what they find, reviews your eyes afterwards and recommends the dry eye solutions that suit you. You also keep a complimentary heat mask, lid wipes and eye drops.
Will the price stay at £99.99?
£99.99 is our early bird price for people who register their interest now. It's an introductory price and it will rise once bookings open.
How often would I need it?
It varies from person to person. Your optometrist will recommend a routine based on your eyes – for many people that's a treatment every few months alongside daily lid care.
Can I have it if I wear contact lenses?
Usually, yes – and many lens wearers find their lenses more comfortable afterwards. You'll simply be asked to remove your lenses for the treatment.
Is it suitable for everyone?
That's why every visit starts with an eye check. If BlephEx isn't the right option for you, your optometrist will tell you and suggest what to do instead.
